AstroAero’s team carries an impressive pedigree of regulatory and design experience from global defence and commercial aviation powerhouses including Boeing, Pilatus, Leonardo, SAAB, the FAA, EASA, and CASA. Backed by a prominent aviation industry investor, AstroAero has designed a highly reliable cargo feeder that addresses regional supply constraints, high fuel costs, and stringent field requirements.

Project Director – Peter Adams

One of the original founders of AstroAero, Peter has more than 30 years of experience in light aircraft conceptual design, development, fabrication, production, Type Certification and operation.  Notably Peter led the Seabird Aviation Australia Sentinel/Seeker aerial surveillance platform development, its Type Certification, production and sales within Australia, together with licenced production/sales in the  Middle-East, Asia and the USA, until the company was sold in 2014.  Seeker variants included integrated surveillance and semi-autonomous payloads for commercial and military use. Throughout his career his positions have been on corporate as well as hands-on levels within of the Companies in which he has been involved.

Technical Leadership

Chief Technical Officer – Alan Kerr

Alan has more than 40 years of experience in aircraft development, structural design, certification and airworthiness across military, commercial and general aviation. Throughout his career Alan has led the engineering and certification of new aircraft, engines, propellers, major modifications and Supplemental Type Certificate programs under CASA and FAA regulations. A former Royal Australian Air Force Engineering Officer and CASA Part 21M Design Engineer, Alan has held senior engineering leadership positions within industry, including Chief Engineer and Chief Technical Officer roles, and has played key roles in the certification of conventional aircraft, helicopters and advanced eVTOL aircraft. His experience spans the complete aircraft development lifecycle, from concept design and structural substantiation through flight test and regulatory approval.  

Chief Engineer – Nick Graham

With more than 20 years’ experience in aircraft design, development, modification, and certification, Nick has a broad expertise across commercial, defence, and special mission aircraft. Nick’s career spans metallic and composite airframe primary structures stress and design engineering, as well as aircraft systems integration and certification. He has worked on major development programs with Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Defence, as well as extensive experience in modifications and repairs for a wide range of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

Chief Test Pilot – Daniel Rich

Daniel brings an extensive background in aircraft development, design and certification across a diverse range of military and civilian aircraft. Daniel has planned, flown and lead test programs across a huge portfolio of aircraft. He has experience in certifying aircraft under CASA, EASA and the FAA as well as Australian and Foreign military airworthiness agencies.  Prior to joining AstroAero, Daniel was the chief test pilot for the Royal Australian Air Force and Commanding Officer of the Aircraft Research and Development Unit. He is an Associate Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, a member of the Flight Test Society of Australia and a graduate of the United States Naval Test Pilot School.
